"Rain Lamp" granite. 2010

It's been quite long I did not upload any image here..
the reason is I could not get into my gmail account and then later I lost interest in publicizing my art works..that's it.
Now I accessed again to gmail and broke the ice I had around me.
this is the first granite sculpture I made ! a bit of a shock for me to look at, since I was trying to learn painting at faculty of fine arts, Baroda and only sculpted when I was a youth in clay, plaster of paris. but all of a sudden I was asked to join in a national granite sculptors workshop and I did jump into.

The theme is based on water. A necessity for all living beings.Visible and invisible. Without water it would be nearly impossible to survive on earth (perhaps some scientists may come up with another solution in the future !). It's titled "Rain Lamp " and approximately 12 ft high. done in 2010.

It is created or structured with 4 pieces of granite. the one on top is shaped as a smooth human belly which has a water storing area in which rain water will be collected and stored for birds to satisfy their thirst.
the two vertical primordial human form is shaped in abstract form, keeping the character of the granite as well as a high polished area. All this 3 pieces is placed on a long single piece of granite which serves as a sitting/ resting space for pedestrians.
it's placed in kozhikode/calicut city, kerala state. india.
